Bryan Jewel

Biography

Bryan has made Vincennes (and Knox County) his home for nearly 50 years. Bryan is a graduate of Lincoln High School (1983) and Vincennes University (1985). He attended Indiana University, where he received his B.A. (Political Science major) in 1987. After graduating from Indiana University, Bryan attended the University of Dayton School of Law (Dayton, Ohio) and received his law degree in 1990.

After graduating law school, Bryan practiced briefly in Evansville, Indiana before returning to Vincennes in 1992, when he began his practice with Bruce Kirchoff. In 1997 Bruce and Bryan formed the law firm of Kirchoff & Jewel.

Bryan’s law practice has been predominantly in the areas of Family Law and Criminal Law. In the Family Law practice, Bryan has helped clients in their divorces, custody and parenting time issues, support cases, adoptions, and guardianships. In the Criminal Law practice, he has represented clients in cases ranging from misdemeanor offenses to major felonies and murder cases. Bryan participates in Knox County’s Public Defender Program, which he presently serves as the part-time Chief Public Defender.

Bryan is also a registered domestic relations mediator, which allows him to assist parties and their attorneys to come to an agreement resolving their family law issues without the necessity of going to court.

Personal

Bryan is married to Jennifer (Balthus) Jewel. They have five (5) daughters, who they have raised right here in Vincennes (Knox County).

Bryan is a member of Kiwanis, the Harmony Society, Knights of Columbus and St. John’s Catholic Church. He is also a member of the Indiana and Knox County Bar Associations.  Bryan serves on the Legal Ethics Committee of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indiana Chief Public Defenders Association.
